The United States government sponsored a project for international airport terminals in Fairbanks and Anchorage, AL. Thomas P. Bourne Associates, an engineering firm based in Washington D. C., requested Breuer's former student Harry A. Morris as chief architect. Morris asked Breuer to act as a consultant for the design of the interior public spaces of the terminals.
