Breuer, assisted by Gustav Hassenpflug, entered a competition to design a factory building in Frankfurt for H. Fuld and Company. The company purchased Breuer's design, along with nine other competition entries. Breuer's factory consisted of four structures, differentiated in terms of form and function. Two long warehouses with saw-toothed roofs formed the center of the complex. At one end, two high-rise blocks housed production and administrative facilities. An open canteen and workers' housing were located at the other end of the warehouses. Breuer later discussed this project in an article in "Die Form."
