Huxtable, Ada (1921)

Architecture critic. She received degrees from Hunter College and New York University. As an assistant curator in the Department of Architecture at the Museum of Modern Art, she included Breuer's first house in New Canaan in an exhibition of post-war houses. In 1963, she became the architecture critic for the New York Times, receiving a Pulitzer Prize in 1970. She admired Breuer's design for Hunter College but harshly criticized his scheme for a tower above Grand Central Station.
