California Arts and Architecture was formed in 1929 by a merger of Pacific Coast Architect and California Southland. California was dropped permanently from the cover and masthead in February of 1944 and folded in 1967. Breuer participated in a competition for post-war housing sponsored by the magazine in 1943. The magazine was also involved with the influential Case Study Houses program.
