Architect and partner of Marcel Breuer. Smith graduated from Princeton In 1947 before receiving a degree in architecture form Yale University. He worked for Eero Saarinen and Associates for three years before joining Breuer's office in 1953. He became a partner in 1964. He worked on numerous projects in the office, including the Whitney Museum of Art, St. John's Abbey and the Reception Center for the Grand Coulee Dam.
