Frank, Robert

Client. In 1939, he and his wife, Cecelia, commissioned a luxurious house from Gropius and Breuer in Pittsburgh, PA. An engineer, Frank oversaw the construction of the house. The Franks were close friends of the Kaufmann family, owners of Kaufmann department stores and aficionados of modern architecture who had recently commissioned Falling Water from Frank Lloyd Wright.
