Breuer designed a seven-story slab apartment building for a 1924 competition sponsored by the architectural magazine "Die Bauwelt." The duplex apartments, each only two rooms deep, had access to small gardens on the terraces that ran the full-length of the façade. With this design, Breuer created a new typology for low-income housing in Germany.
