In February of 1946, Dr. and Mrs. Bernard Bandler hired Breuer to remodel and furnish their house in Cambridge, MA. Breuer moved his office to New York in May of that year. He had already hired a contractor to execute the work but last minute changes requested by the client convinced Breuer that he would not be able to oversee the project to his satisfaction. He provided the Bandlers with the blueprints and list of local architects who could take over the job. In the end, Dr. Bandler hired new architects who decided not to use Breuer's plans.
