Breuer's proposed redesign of Potsdamer Platz, one of the liveliest squares and busiest traffic intersections in Berlin, featured an elevated cloverleaf for vehicular traffic with pedestrian crossings and access to subways below street level. The cloverleaf pattern allowed traffic to change directions without stopping at an intersection. Standardized, multi-story buildings, some of which contained garages, lined the edges of the cloverleaf.
