In 1952, Breuer produced preliminary designs to add servants' quarters to Winthrop Rockefeller's existing house in Tarrytown, NY. Rockefeller's house was the original House in the Museum Garden, designed by Breuer in 1949. Breuer envisioned a compact volume clad in vertical cypress siding with plate glass and asbestos cement panels on the entrance façade. Each of the two rooms possessed a separate entrance and was furnished with a bed, chest and sink. The servants would share a bathroom located between their rooms. It is unclear whether the project ever progressed beyond the planning stages.
