Mary and Edgar Stillman, Jr., relatives of Breuer's friends and clients, Leslie and Rufus Stillman, wanted to build a waterfront cottage in Wellfleet, MA. Breuer designed a long, rectangular house raised on concrete piers, which took advantage of grand views of a field and Cape Cod Bay. The house was clad in natural, vertical cedar siding except for a side wall painted bright red. Diagonal braces supported a large porch - part screened and part open - on the side of the house facing the water. The roof angled upward from the entrance to the water façade and projected beyond the façade on the long sides of the house, shading the windows. A ramp with steel cable railings led to a small screened entrance porch, which opened directly into the large living-dining space. A high screen at the edge of the living room blocked views down the hallway, off of which the bedrooms opened.
