In January of 1950, Gerold Lauck approached Breuer about building a house for his son and daughter-in-law. He requested a slightly revised version of the House in the Museum Garden that was also built for Alvin Tilley in Red Bank, NJ. Concerned about the fact that multiple versions of the house already existed, Lauck also requested that "a duplication of this house or one based on its general design shall not be built within a radius of 10 miles from Nassau Hall, Princeton, NJ." Breuer complied with these requests and the house was completed that same year.
