In 1953, Hans Knoll asked Breuer to design the Brussels furniture showroom for Knoll Associates. Constantin Brodzki oversaw the implementation of Breuer's designs. Breuer defined smaller spaces within the L-shaped showroom through the use of plywood panels. Fabrics were to be hung from the spokes of a circular display feature. Other decorative features included a perforated teak screen, a mirrored wall and a photo mural that combined the reclining figure of Adam from the Sistine Chapel and a variety of animals, including an octopus, goat and cobra. Sailboat hardware was used throughout the showroom.
