Under the name Barney Google, Breuer submitted a design for a house of approximately 1,350 square feet for a competition sponsored by "Progressive Architecture" and Rich's Department Store. This bi-nuclear house was composed of two rectangular, one-story, parallel, slipped volumes connected by short hallway and a stone-paved screened porch, nestled a terrace between the two wings. The house appeared to have a flat roof when viewed from the longitudinal façades and a diagonal roof when facing the narrow ends of the rectangles. As with all bi-nuclear houses, the living spaces were physically separated from the bedrooms. The house was to be clad in vertical tongue and groove boards, and the entrance façade featured a sunshade above the windows.
