In 1971, Marcel Breuer and Associates produced some preliminary plans for the renovation of an existing storefront at 595 Madison Avenue that was to house the Marlborough-Gerson Gallery. The drawings reveal that Breuer planned to remove the existing storefront and mezzanine and create angled walls and partitions that smoothed over projections in the exterior wall. A signed contract for the project exists but working drawings showing the final design have not survived.
