The Torin Corporation, formerly the Torrington Manufacturing Company, produced air-moving equipment. In 1963, Breuer and his associate Robert Gatje designed and built a factory to produce strip- and wire-forming machinery on the Torin campus in Torrington, CT. The factory consisted of two boxes faced in vertical white porcelain-enameled aluminum siding. The smaller, one-storey box contained offices, a laboratory and a cafeteria. The brick entrance façade featured a strip of horizontal windows and a cantilevered entrance canopy. The larger, two-storey box housed the factory. Brick accents framed the separate factory entrance, which also sported a cantilevered canopy.
