F. R. S. Yorke received the commission to design two houses for Masters at Eton College before he entered into partnership with Breuer, and the buildings were completed after Breuer immigrated to the United States. Nonetheless, drawings are signed by both architects indicating a degree of collaboration on the final design. The identical flat-roofed, brick buildings on adjoining lots were designed for a modest cost of £2,5000 but still included seven bedrooms on the second floor. Like many of Breuer's other houses, a large sliding window providing access from the living room to a paved terrace shaded by a wooden pergola. The closets normally found in the bedrooms lined the upstairs hallway freeing up space in the small rooms. Breuer would later use this device in his competition entry for a small, post-war house sponsored by the "Ladies' Home Journal" and the "Chicago Tribune."
