In 1946, Breuer submitted a plan for an H-shaped binuclear residence for the Chicagoland Prize Homes Competition. One wing of the 1,642-square-foot house was devoted to bedrooms and studies while the other contained the living and dining rooms and kitchen. A ramp connected the two wings and provided access to the patio nestled between the two wings. The Chicago Tribune sponsored an exhibition of the competition entries and published a book of the designs.
