These "skipped-level" apartments, designed in 1923, are generally credited as Breuer's first architectural design. A corridor on alternating floors gave access to interlocked duplex apartments, some of which featured double-height living rooms. The façade elevation reveals Breuer's early interest in complex patterns derived by varying the size and placement of windows.
