George and Marian Laaff asked Breuer to build them a house after seeing the Grieco House, also located in Andover, MA. The flat-roofed, single-story building combined expanses of plate glass with white-painted and natural fieldstone walls. Visitors accessed the master bedroom and open-plan living-dining room from the centrally located entrance hall. In addition to floor-to ceiling windows, Breuer utilized strips of clerestory windows, particularly in the living room wall behind the cylindrical flue of the fireplace. The service areas, including the kitchen were clustered in the center of the plan with additional bedrooms and a playroom located at the other end of the rectangular plan. An entrance court, paved in bluestone and delineated on one side by a fieldstone wall, penetrated the rectangular volume of the building and connected the carport and workroom to the residence. The house was completed in 1957.
