Albin Wolf, a lawyer from Burgkunstadt, first asked Walter Gropius to design his house. The commission was for a small house of five or six rooms. Gropius declined the commission due to its small size but suggested Breuer as a replacement. In September of 1933, Breuer send Wolf a draft contract for the house but no further records of the project exist.
