In 1950, Sidney Wolfson asked Breuer to create a new building around the trailer that he had been using as a studio for four years. Breuer designed a wood-frame structure clad in vertical cypress which cantilevered over a smaller stone base. A guest bedroom and utility room were located in the stone base, with a living room, studio space and recessed porch in the upper story. A narrow hallway led to the metal trailer which was raised on a stone platform and shaded by a trellis. Stone steps marked the entrance, located in the narrow corridor between the two structures.
