William Landsberg, Breuer’s former student and employee, was the architect of record for the Westchester Reform Temple. Breuer served as the design consultant, and according to Isabelle Hyman was largely responsible for the design. The temple plan was a Star of David. A diamond pattern screen shaded the windows. Offices, classrooms and an activities room were housed in a long bar adjacent to the temple. Breuer delivered a speech entitled “On Religious Architecture,” at the dedication of the temple in September 1959.
